Four Vignettes for String Quartet*

Four Vignettes was commissioned for the Chamber Music program at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
I. Keeping it Fresh is a whimsically modern play on the nostalgic, ’90s Mentos commercial, “Mentos, the Freshmaker”.
II. Lullaby for the Lost Child is a lullaby dedicated to those families separated and treated horribly at our country's southern border. Lullaby for the Lost Child imagines a child yearning for their mother, and a mother’s broken heart yearning for their child.
III. Jiggidy Dig! takes an Irish Jig and turns it into a quick scherzo. The title comes from the nursery rhyme, “To market, to market”.
IV. Prayer - Every day people are struggling with something, and others will never know it. This is a prayer for those who are struggling silently. Premiered on April 22 in Duncan Recital Hall, at Rice University's, Shepherd School of Music.
